Baba Alam Shah Bukhari, Karachi

This Mazar was something of an icon of that place: Muhammad Ali Jinnah Road, Karachi. It is still there but I am told - and sadly so - that this old building has now been demolished to make way for the new one. How sick is that. And why no authority stops such violation of historical structures is beyond my comprehension. It is understandable that the rise in Sufi version of Islam has caused jam-packed Mazars, but it makes no sense to me that you start pulling down structure after structure.

But this is not new. We have seen this happen across Pakistan. Recent examples include Red Mazar of Sehwan Sharif (Lal Shahbaz Qalandar). Now, a bland, blue Mazar stands in its place, a bad copy of that brilliant Mazar Sharif in Iraq. Why cannot we continue Sufi Islam with historical heritage? How many more Mazars will we allow to be demolished?

Mr. Ameer Hamza, kindly do your homework before posting something on the internet. People are not really into history and knowledge, so they usually read what they see on the internet. FYI, the tomb of Alam Shah Bukhari is not being demolished, infact it is being Renovated. The tomb is being renovated by one of the renowned Architect of Karachi, Mr. Kafeel Hussain Khan.

Thank you for your comments. I will re-visit this important Tomb and will let you know whether it is being renovated or demolished. Although I am not an architect by profession, I understand the difference for I also work along with some of the leading architects and engineers of this country. (Tariq Hassan, Arif Kassam, Arshad Shahid Abdullah, etc).

Anonymous dude is right..mazar shariff is not being demolished at all..its being renovated and as of today a significant part has been renovated..The dome is now directly above the resting place..and the area for pilgrims around the resting place has also been widened.
You know bro there is a very thin line b/w Confidence and Overconfidence..and in my humble opinion..it sounds as if u just crossed that magical line :P

Salaam, so I visited the shrine recently to take some video shots for a project I am working on. Not knowing anything about Baba Alam Shah Bukhari (R.A). However a strange thing happened. I was shooting inside, the guards did not allow at first but after I met the caretaker of the shrine he generously allowed me to shoot.

The serene atmosphere hit me with this crazy wave of peace. One person at the door kept on reciting a naat, some people were reciting Quran. What I felt I can't explain in words but all I know it was very spiritual, peaceful and beautiful.

One gentleman came, shook my hands and asked me- it was almost as if hes telling me; "You're coming to Sehwan." He said that again later and shook hands again.

Fortunately enough- about 2-3 weeks later- I am actually going to Sehwan. All in all, I am posting this here, with hopes to know more about Baba Alam Shah Bukhari (R.A). Can't seem to find much history on the internet. How do I really connect with all this? I mean spiritually. Any help would be appreciated.
